I agree with Arlo about Zen. As for Pirsig's affinity with Indians I think it
"emerged" because of the friendship with and influence by Dusenberry who was an
Indian nut. Also, according to some, Pirsig got his inspiration for the MOQ from
smoking peyote while sitting around with a bunch Indians in a teepee.

But, I could be wrong.
