[Platt]
"Not the best way" means he changed his mind about the most crucial
decision in formulating a worldview -- the first division.

[Arlo]
The quotes provided have nothing to do with a metaphysical division.
They have to do with the Quality that is being divided.

"The Quality which creates the world emerges as a relationship
between man and his experience." (ZMM)

"Although Dynamic Quality, the Quality of freedom, creates this world
in which we live, these patterns of static quality, the quality of
order, preserve our world. Neither static nor Dynamic Quality can
survive without the other." (LILA)

Indeed, the first is about how Quality emerges, the second is about
how Quality can be divided.

Quick analysis of ZMM's passage.

Quality creates the world.
Quality emerges as a relationship between and his experience.

Quick analysis of LILA's passage.

Quality creates the world.
Static quality preserves our world.

The first parts parts are exactly the same. The second have nothing
to do with contradiction, but talk about different things.

You're only real argument here is that because Pirsig does not
_repeat_ this statement in LILA, this proves he changed his mind
about it. I think a higher Quality explanation is that he gives us
credit for being able to read two books.

[Platt]
Pirsig says when it comes to explaining reality, the MOQ is better.

[Arlo]
Since Pirsig calls ZMM "the path to enlightenment", thus ZMM is
better for explaining Quality. I take the man at his word.

We should understand both Quality and "reality". Enlightenment and
the Path-Back.
