That there are some liberties that rise above the voting desires of the
population. You can't "vote away" interracial marriage, and you should not be
able to "vote away" gay marriage.
[Platt]
I disagree along with the majority of the American public.
[Arlo]
Should you be able to "vote away" interracial marriage (ignore what the Court
has said, tell me what YOU think)? Let's keep this very concise. Tell me, why
should "gay marriage" be decided upon by "the majority of voters", but
"interracial marriage" be a natural right above "majority voting"?
If the majority of the American public COULD "vote away" interracial marriage
(again, let's pretend the Court never ruled), would you say they should have
that right?
[Platt]
Burden on society? How about births to irresponsible mothers and fathers? Are
you going to stand by a "burden to society" argument in determining legally
punishable behavior.
[Arlo]
Society does act against "irresponsible" parents, as it should. But you can't
tell me beforehand which children are going to be neglected and or abused,
while I can tell you with near mathematical certainty the odds of severe
biological problems due to incestuous childbirth. And while children of
"delinquent" families can be placed in better homes, children born with
incest-related retardation live with that the rest of their lives.
Again, there is sufficient proof here as to the outcome, and detriment to
society, in supporting incestuous unions. You offer no proof, only threats of
fear and slippery-slope blather. What's next, Platt, bestiality?
[Platt]
Well, at least you admit you're no gentleman. Why are we not surprised?
[Arlo]
No, with you I am not. Who would be surprised? But I think everyone knows that
its only your constant hypocrisy and talk-radio distortions the draw my ire.
[Arlo]
Answer me this. Do you find "gay marriage" to be immoral?
[Platt]
Gay sex, not immoral. Gays agreeing to live together. No. Gay "marriage," yes.
[Arlo]
And on what do you base that? Why is two men having sex hunky-dory, but
allowing that same man to choose his partner as the beneficiary of their
inheritance, make end of life decisions, etc. "immoral"?
