Rival philosophies as a part of social life. I
never read the philosophic book called "Bullshitting"
or something like that, but that word - bullshitting,
yeah, something like that. Now, how does one define
the boundaries in which we are to bullshit amidst? In
other words, what are we to bullshit about? I just
finished reading, “Zen and the Art of Sailboat
Maintenance; At Sea with Robert Pirsig". Pirsig
mentions this need by some to find a problem. He
mentions this as the "American moral guilt complex".
Something does break from time to time though. Pirsig
fixed the 'traveler' on the sailboat (a material piece
found on sailboats).
Last weekend I went to Presque Isle at Lake Erie
(one of the Great Lakes in North America). I went
canoeing. These waves crashed from all around me in
Presque Isle Bay, and then once I reached the lake,
wow, the waves were big. I needed to sideways enter
the waves so I could float up and down. I tried to
stay away from the white-water cresting waves near the
shoreline for they broke right into the canoe filling
the canoe with water. Twice water lapped over the
side of the canoe even as I went sideways on the
rolling waters (without the white-water cresting yet
to develop). Also a couple of times when I went
straight into a rolling wave with the point of the
canoe this point of canoe would break the rolling wave
and allow the surface tension of the water to break
apart into the canoe. I made it around the very tip
of the Isle onto the western beach were my wife and
son were. We hung out and played in the sand and
water. The experience sunk into me this rolling over
the waves, not head on experience as I went to work
this past week. Not to say no is still no.
We headed north today to walk in the woods, but
then the rain fell. We turned back and stayed in the
house all day with the occasional walk outside to feel
the day. I hear katydids at the moment.

ever darker evening,
SA
