Many thanks for looking Case.  Yes, it's not a straight forward reference 
though the quote you found could be the original that the internet version 
is derived from.  Maybe the difficulty is caused by James using his mid-life 
crisis Dr K. Rimmel (Rockne?) pseudonym during 1890?  :-)
