I would say the taoists are the ones closer to reaching - not evolution (which is in the limit of meanning a pretencious and somewhat vaguely superficial goal (IMHO) - happyness, harmony, contemplation, the return of a natural state, the control of our violent selves, the idea of a natural integrated survival.  And that's a lot to accomplish.  Maybe Lao Tzu and his followers (formal or informal) had got the key to an evolutionary state of being.
 
Please, let's find a cure for flu.
