To make it real. Or else it is just a plaything.

ways. 
The pragmatic notion that metaphysics is good only if it helps to
improve life, the rejection of jargon, the emphsis on philosophy over
philosophology, the way its radical empiricism equates and limits
reality to that which is known in experience, the anti-theistic and
anti-Hegalian sentiments, etc., etc..
