individual betterness trumps social betterness every time.

Whoa, dude. Nowhere did I ever suggest such a thing. When value conflict occurs,
we can turn to the MOQ for some guidance. If the clash of values is
biological-social, then it is clear to me that social-value trumps. When the
clash is intellectual-social, then it is also clear to me that
intellectual-value trumps. The question is, when the "individual" is acting, on
what level is s/he pursuing Quality? And my point is, that the "individual" is
pursuing Quality on some level, even in the case of vandalism where it may be
biological Quality (as the release of pent up anger) or intellectual Quality
(as the assault on unjust social patterns).
