The point remains that concentric circles do not work as a diagram for the
MoQ. Branches on the other hand do capture both each level growing out of
the level below and the ongoing relationship between them.

dmb says:
The circle is a symbol of wholeness, completeness. So as a model of the
universe that makes sense. The image of a tree with branches, however, falls

apart the moment we ask what the soil represents, what the tree is rooted
in. And what does the sky refer to in that diagram? What is that whole stage

upon which we find this tree?

[Case]
I have given several reasons why circle don't work but the real issue is why
"levels" don't. So the levels are stair steps? A ladder? Where are they
leading to? What wall is the ladder propped up against? What color are the
steps painted? What color is the sky in your world?

Did someone mention a tree? I have described this self similar shape many
times but since I never tire of it: It is a branching shape that occurs in
two dimensions as a river bed, lightning bolts, highways, telephone lines.
In three dimensions is appears as plant life, nervous systems, lungs. It is
how we represent family trees and other historical relationships. It is
reflected in organizational charts and college catalogs.

It is self similar across scale which means that each piece of it mirrors
the whole. It shows that similar factors are at work at all levels of the
structure; in this case DQ and SQ.

Jeez, I think math geeks and computer scientists should just stay the hell
away from metaphors.

Since I am neither I will not take offense but this does serve to illustrate
the difficult of attempting to talk sensibly to romantics.
