The transformative experiences that come to mind all involved tears.
I have a T-shirt with the following words on the back.
A young man who cannot cry is a savage.
An old man who cannot laugh is a fool.
I count myself fortunate that I laugh as much as I cry.
Yesterday morning I burst into uncontrollable laughter for a half minute or so
after reading "you're the one" in an email for a coworker. Several weeks ago
during a discussion, I held up one index finger while saying "...two of..." Late
Monday afternoon I sent this same guy an email message explaining "the
following five individuals..." But I listed only four names. So he comes back
"you're the one." I wouldn't say this was a transformative experience. But the
laugh certainly felt good.
I'd say the power of Quality to transform a person has a lot to do with how
connected a person is with their feelings. If I had to choose between the
intellect and emotions I'd say Quality is experienced, personally, on an
emotional level. It's almost visceral.
