Glad to see you agree that things that change (electromagnetic waves)can be
static patterns as opposed to those who consider all changes the result of
responses to DQ.
The analogy,like all analogies,isn't perfect as you rightfully point out.

In the sense that the pervasive force of a hurricane in a particular locality
removes only a few roofs on the hundreds of houses in the area.
Again, not a perfect analogy. But, I hope you get the idea.
Also, keep in mind that in SODV Pirsig wrote, "But in the wake of this cutting
edge are static patterns of value. These are memories, customs and patterns
of nature."
