[Platt]
I don't know the difference between Newtonian determinism and plain old
determinism but in any case determinism works just fine for me in everyday
life. I eat when I'm hungry and drink when I'm dry.
[Krimel]
Newton was attempting to construct rules that hold with 100 percent
probability. Most would say he succeeded very well. But causation in the
Newtonian sense is only a subset of a probabilistic view that holds that not
all of the relevant causes in a given set of conditions may be specified in
advance.
[Platt}
As far as I can tell there is nothing in your worldview that is outside the
range of probabilities.
[Krimel]
True enough but a great many things are highly unlikely. Ham's impersonal
big daddy in the sky for example, or the likelihood of Platt voting for
Hillary Clinton.
