Just to be clear on my contribution here ...

I've never contended that ideas and concepts came before "stuff" in
any general sense. I'm still a physicalist - fundamentally only
metaphysics precedes physics. Physics (physical stuff and processes
generally) exists before any empiricism or intellect, etc. (The
physical is the lowest level of static patterns.)

I said "our idea of matter as material objects"
does not precede our experience and conceptions of them.
