Focusing on the idea of experience, I thought about how far my
consciousness extends.

I reasoned that consciousness surely extends past my body for I sense
the air around me

The ground under my feet and reflective light bounced a quarter of a
mile away. My consciousness

Extends to my farthest sight, the heat from the sun and the atmosphere
of the earth and the sounds

All around to the smells next door. The air in my lungs.

In Aikido, while meditating we were asked to repeat the number "one"
until it made no sense and

Lost it's meaning, until the number one was just a sound made by the
vibration of the larynx in my throat,

The number one became an experience. The master instructed the student
that breath is at the core of

Reality to develop it and hold it dear. "breathing is not in then out,
it is a circle, it is the dao itself"
