Yesterday one of the talking heads on the financial show was commenting
how Apple has just sold their 3 millionth Iphone and how the Blackberry
sales are still brisk.
Making the point that there is an "alternate" economy and while it stays
strong things should be OK.
Which got me wondering. How many would end up buying Bologna instead of
steaks and hamburgers just so they can keep their cell phone, Cable, or
interment connection.
Remember Pagers? you can still get one for about $10 a month.
You are right, they will complain and do nothing while sipping their $5
latte, getting the manicure at$20-100, and watching cable at about $60 a
month. That's $700 a year.
Unfortunate our cities were built around the automobile and the freeways
and we are stuck. If you live in a small enough town, a bike will do. If
you are in a large city, mass transit should be adequate, but if you
happen to be somewhere in between, the car owns you and you are a slave
to it. A small moped might be a good solution.
Lately I have been noticing people 'window shopping' when it comes to the
meat isle, and once they are at the register, asking for subtotals as the
cashier is adding things up and returning things from their shopping
carts.
