Fair enough. And I think that's the conversation we should be having 
(not "we" as in you and I, but "we" as in "the people").

Is an educated citizenry valuable enough to make public funding 
moral? We disagree. And I don't think I'm going to change your mind. 
And you likely won't change mine.

But at least we have articulated the core issue (between us).
