Hi All,

Lest anyone doubt that education in America is in a sorry state, an article
by the NYTimes columnist Bob Herbert should be enlightening.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/22/opinion/22herbert.html

The solution? From letters to the editor about Herbert's article comes
this comparison:

"Everyone interested in America’s future should see the documentary “Two
Million Minutes,” which contrasts the way American teenagers spend their
precious high school minutes with the way their Chinese and Indian
contemporaries are forced by their parents and society to work hard to
master difficult mathematical and scientific skills."

Forced to work hard? Now there's a novel approach.

Regards,
Platt
