Do you think this is an explanation?

"Biological evolution can be seen as a process by which weak Dynamic forces
at a subatomic level discover stratagems for overcoming huge static
inorganic forces at a superatomic level. They do this by selecting
superatomic mechanisms in which a number of options are so evenly balanced
that a weak Dynamic force can tip the balance one way or another."
        --LILA, Chpt 11, pg 167

To me this is describes an accident about to happen, without cause or
purpose, save for the chance "tipping the balance" of random atomic forces.
Surely, the making of a chemistry professor from carbon atoms (whose reality

Pirsig himself denies) calls for a more sophisticated scenario than this!

[Krimel]
What an elegant statement of chaos theory. It highlights the awe of having
Oops transforming into Aha. From carbon molecules to chemistry professors
nature follows the often winding, path of least resistance. When all the big
things cancel out, little things matter. The real "Aha" comes when you
realize that it really doesn't require anything more sophisticated than
that.
