Steve, in a word. No.
I think I said some of this in the original response to DM.
I'm not sure I'd worry about the distinction more than I'd be
concerned with the common ground. The point is that at root (rta) they
are really the same thing "a craft" is "an art" - both a concern for
intimate involvement with the medium (or the tools or both) - quality.
I liked the difference of emphasis with the "medium being too much the
message" - ie the idea in the art may dominate the craft qualities in
its execution - was the point of the reference. The opposite to what
you suggest even - but more a question of emphasis than definition in
my book.
This art / craft disitinction was not a big deal for me - just as I
said "interesting" to hear it discussed outside MoQ.Discuss .... AND
with a reference to Julian Baggini bemoaning lost "quality" in our
time, more to the point.
