Agree with idea that the 3rd level preceded the 4th. but it was a human being
(not beings) who first split subject from object.

No, it was most certainly beings, plural. It came from the shared dialogue of
individuals-in-social-activity. One derives power from many, no voice exist
apart from the others.
It is from social interaction, at least _two_, from which intellectual patterns
emerge. "Mental patterns originate out of society". They do not come from Lone
Wonderous Individuals, but rather from the collective activity of individual
agents.
Our voices are wonderous, to be sure, but they are an inseparable part of a
chorus.
