My thought exactly. Arlo's "self-as-concept" begs the question, "What isn't a
concept?

Inorganic patterns of value, biological patterns of value, and social patterns
of value. 

If the self is NOT a concept, which is it? A biological pattern? Substance?
Energy? Where does the "self" exist apart from it's being a "collection of
ideas"?
