I had forgotten that you are a musician. Strangely, I was thinking just
tonight about the progression of chords as related to the octave, and
whether I might have used such an illustration in my essay on value
sensibility. As you know, a "perfect cadence" of a song or any musical
composition typically involves the dominant moving to the tonic. I'm rusty
on solfagio, but I believe your "si" would be a diminished V chord (dominant
triad) resolving to the I (tonic triad). Most often the progression is
IV-->V-->I.
This is interesting because it demonstrates a kind of "esthetic" logic that
satisfies the senses rather then the intellect. But it's important to note
that this effect is relative in that it works only for the western-trained
musician whose ear is tuned to the tempered octave. This chordal
progression does not evoke the same feeling of tension resolution in 12-tone
(French impressionistic) music, for example, or in Arabian or Chinese music
based on other tonal scales.
I'm curious as to what significance the "sixth place" (La) has in your
octave, and why you feel it merits special distinction as a "meta-level"
(intellectual?). Perhaps you can explain this for those of us with some
musical training.
Regards,
Ham
