I'm going to resist the urge to say nasty things about Platt, but
Jeez. You can imagine what I think and probably goes without saying,
anyway. At this point, I just feel sorry for the guy.

What's funny is he chastised you for seemingly implying that the
number of results on a google search meant anything, and yet to
support his position he links a string of names, as if that means
anything... add to that his blindness to even look a little bit
further to see the bogus nature of this list.
"Even if half the names are legit....", please, you may as well say,
"even if half the google hits are legit..."
But there are always different standards for judging the worth of
that which conforms to the noble, righteous, honest, decent
neoconservative ideology and the vile, immoral, deceitful, corrupt
liberal agenda. Indeed, its simply pre-defined into his rationale.
You see, those scientists who deny global warming simply MUST be
telling the truth, since it conforms to the neoconservative platform,
which we know is righteous and beyond reproach. While those
scientists who advance global warming simply MUST be lying, advancing
deceitful propaganda or engaging in "dubious science", since they
conform to the "liberal agenda", which we know is deceitful and
immoral and dishonest.
You can, of course, pick your topic and apply this criteria. Those
scientists who advance an idea tauted by neoconservative ideology are
seen as noble knights of truth fighting a sea of corrupt,
black-toothed libs, while those who advance something supportive of
"the liberal agenda" are at once and always engaged in "dubious
science". Its this "logic" that makes him blind to the hypocracy of
condemning you for "a list", then turning around and supplying "a
list" as a legitimate counter. YOUR list was "liberal", and so it can
be dismissed and ridiculed as preposterous, dubious logic. HIS list
was "neoconservative" so it must be fair and honest and legitimate.
And you will never, ever make any more headway than that.
