[MD] Individual

Hi Marsha (and Gav I guess),
I can see how this is contributing to the social vs intellectual
threads, even if it's not being acknowleged.

I just said myself that we need to keep "the individual vs the
collective / cosmos" distinction separate from other social vs
intellectual issues - as you say it's largely an "illusory"
distinction to most of us poor westerners.

At some point we need to return to the eastern angle .... just think
we can't address every issue at one ... at least not in normal
"western male" e-mail correspondence language ... perhaps in some more
poetic form. (Who knows we might actually discover that we can't
resolve the social / intellectual issue without bring the more
enlightened illusion of individual self into play - it might really be
the source of our "stuckness".)

(Paul T got closest to giving us a way to talk about the buddhist angle - IMHO)
