supports Pirsig's theory that evolution is towards freedom -- DQ's "only

Well yes we are "special" but cheetahs are special because they can run
fast. Birds are special because they can fly. Fish are special because they
can live underwater. Giraffes are special because they can eat from the high
branches of trees...

I think the whole idea the DQ "perceives" is completely misguided and a very
bad reading of Pirsig.
