          "Breaking News"

what can be improvised in the moment,
impromptu speeches put the now in sight,
as one tries to draw somebody...
how many times do you say keep still?

Thoreau layed his papers in the sun,
the moment is written yet all these changes...
as one tries to send the message...
the pony ride express, can it keep up?

we experience these events,
books are yesterdays news,
as somebody, though, may not have heard...
pamphlets fall from the skies, keeping up?

the event in the field,
relay it to the ones making the decisions,
as one tries the weather changes...
go and update them, the wind shifts, keep u..?

the words come a flyin' but beyond words,
now it's as if by reflex, move, duck,
as somebody blocks before the punch is thrown...
on your own, in the field, grass roots.

it's in the headlines,
it's breaking news Live.
as one lives the play by play...
