A principle/statement/premise which cannot (sensibly) be contradicted is a
tautology.

Unfortunately, the current scientific vogue of talking about "dark energy" &
"dark matter", can be taken as doing just that.

Basically there are only 2 choices: a) the universe always existed or b) it came into
existence from nothing.  We have no better evidence for a) than for b).
