Hello squonk ?
I do not disagree with your deeper question, but I am a pragmatist and I can see where the immediate issue is, deal with that and the deeper question will look after itself in its own time.
Speaking of something coming out of nothing, this seems to work on a personal as well as a sub atomic level (no doubt there is some kind of field behind that as well ). Anyway, something along those lines has occured in my own life which will mean I am less active than I intended with my fledgling foray into the MOQ discussing group in the coming days / probably weeks. I do however look forward to trying to bring something a little different into your midst in the not too distant future.
Keep talking.

Humankind is approaching a point where a general shift in perception is
needed. Aritotle and absolutism has proven very useful up to this point for
those who have had the choice and inclination to take it up instead of
superstition, but the point is now not too far off when people sat at the front
of the train will believe again that you can get something from nothing. This
time it will not be in a superstitious way and it will superceed the
absolutists, it will be in a MOQ kind of way and it will be good.

Hello Simon,
The notion that quantum mechanics suggests you can get something from nothing is erroneous.
The 'something' referred to in these events is an excitation of an already present field; the 'something' in these events returns to the field from which it came.
A deeper philosophical problem is 'were did the fields come from'.
