I see "blance" as describing a static pattern of equilibrium whereas Pirsig
is describing a dynamic process of change and latching, like a ratchet jack
that lifts a car. Not a perfect analogy I grant you, but one that suggests
movement implied in Pirsig's description. As for superiority and control,
I think you'll find many references in Lila to the constant battle being waged
between levels in which each strives for dominance (superiority and control).
