It seems like we might be looking at "desire"  with a very narrow  
"scope". Desire is the "wanting of, longing for" anything. Taoists  
and the Vedic sages have always advised against extreme behavior of  
any kind. Always -- Not too much, not too little.

The world of finite experience cannot handle the non-duality of Tao/ 
Brahman. It has to be transcended. It comes to this -- realizing that  
there are different layers to the mind/consciousness (Manas/Buddhi/ 
Chitta and so on). These are clearly defined and easily identifiable  
realities, but easily accessible when one practices techniques such  
as Pranayama, Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gung.

It is wrong to repress desire of any kind -- the energies associated  
with "Wanting" have to be worked through become clarity is achieved.
