To whom it may concern,

Since the MoQ is based on talk about static patterns of value I have always
found it curious that so little attention is paid to this word.

Since people are sloppy about attributing who said what in previous posts, I
don't know who chimed in with this from Wiki:

> B) a regular and intelligible form or sequence discernible
> in certain actions or situations

I think this reveal three critical aspects of "patterns"

First is that they have form. They occupy space; whether it is physical or
conceptual space.

Second they involve sequence. They have a temporal dimension. This can be a
matter of order of occurrence as in music or a matter of duration.

Third they are intelligible, discernable. They are not strictly speaking
properties or entities. They are not TiTs. They are perceptual attributes
that intelligent entities discover and share.

I would add to this that pattern recognition is the evolutionary niche that
our species exploits like no other.
