I am aware of the use and abuse of metaphor. I thought the point was to seek
after metaphors that are precise and offer explanatory power. If all you
want is metaphors that will make you feel good and stop asking questions
then any metaphor will do. You can have your conscious electrons or just
talk about the great sky father who is the motive force behind all things.
That kind of talk does not enrich my understanding of the ways of the world
but I suppose that if I where talking to a three year old I might find them
useful.
