Dear woodswoods8 at yahoo.com, and all. Hope you are doing well. Sorry about the delay in responding. Talking about internet freedom, no access to email in the Miami-Dade County Public School system. We *are* serfs.

The file we were discussing which shows the genre and theme interests of my high school freshman and sophomore students is here:

http://jigsaw.wikispaces.com/file/view/Genre+and+Themes+voting+8.xls

Genre are listed from highest to lowest interest at the top. Topic brainstorming and voting is in the middle. Highest topic interest is highlighted at the bottom of the Excel file.

Hope you find the thoughts of my students interesting.

Sincerely,

Otto Zequeira

Otto,

What do the numbers mean in the chart? Are the categories in a reasoned order?

Subject: [MD] Pirsig and emptiness

Dear all:

I am writing because I figure there are some experts on ZAMM and Lila on
this list. My students, who I referred to in a previous email, are
concerned with sex and drugs in their lives. For some numbers on student
surveys, please see:

http://jigsaw.wikispaces.com/

.... and click on 'Genre and theme voting' in the left-hand navigation bar.

One reference that I am interested in sharing with them from the above books
is discussion on the value of emptiness in connecting with dynamic quality
as an alternative to sex and drugs. I seem to remember a reference to
emptiness in Lila with regard to boating. Having trouble finding the
section, though.

Anyone remember off hand where I can find it? Any other suggestions? Thank
you in advance.

Sincerely,

Otto Zequeira
