And just because there aren't guns for sale in the shops doesn't mean there aren't a huge number of illegal guns around - they aren't hard to get hold of. Apparently!
I saw a set of figures recently that suggest that the UK is the least law-abiding country in Europe - which figures given the amount of drugs and alcohol that get consumed.
So I wouldn't put too much stock in what the papers are saying - they usually get it wrong anyway.
