"Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul’s
Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act (HR 2755)...
was introduced into Congress in June 2007"
The discussion of this bill has been "reinvigorated" according to
this article:

This fight over central banks came up at another time in U.S.
history was Andrew Jackson was President and he fought
against central banks and won. He, as Thomas Jefferson and others,
knew the problems central banks would impose upon people and the
freedoms they would be able to take away. President Jackson and other
founding fathers, etc... openly discussed how banks could easily
become more powerful than any military and more powerful in the
taking away the freedoms of people. Jackson won against the central
banks during his time in the 1800's, but then it was eventually revived
and central banks emerged with control even in how politically elected
governments are run. Jackson and others knew the danger. Do we yet?
