I agreed with gav that focussing on the numbers is a mugs game and
misses the real sustainability issues, but I have to take comfort in
the fact that the antidote to capitalism (ideology) is pragmatism (ie
anything but ideology).

Looking back through Peston's other recent posts. Wonderful to see
Thatcherism (which was simply re-branded Friedmanism anyway) replaced
in one fell swoop by freedom with public accountabilty and no-one even
needed to mention Marx or Socialism to make it happen. Every cloud has
a silver lining. I think I'll join gav in having another chuckle.

Pragmatism rules (radical or otherwise).
