What are you getting at?  The moralizing of the church

    The effort is opposite of decadence.  The effort is moral regeneration.  I see a code of art here.
Here's another quote:

    I see dq "...creates this world... these patterns of static quality..."
    This is what drives "...creative people - the artists, composers, revolutionaries and the like..." 
    It's about art.  The act of art is moral.  It's about "moral regeneration".  Making anew.  This is a code.  
With this code a static latching is occurring in the art, in the act of being creative.  It's spirituality.  It's opposite 
of decadence.  For decadence is a decline in art.  It is a moral decline.  Moral art is regenerative to old, dead 
static patterns.

    As wiktionary defines decadence:

    "A state of moral or artistic decline or deterioration; decay"
