David M said to dmb:
Anthologies by Rosenthal and Stuhr are contemporary thought you suggest, maybe I don't understand the word anthology, very contemporary!
dmb says:
Sigh. No, Dave. I didn't "suggest" this stuff was contemporary. I said it explicitly and in plain English. That's what freaks me out about your misunderstanding. I really don't see how it's possible to misunderstand such a simple thing when it's right in front of you. I'm not offended by disagreements and I did not feel attacked. It's just that such apparent stupidity and/or carelessness angers and frustrates me like you wouldn't believe.
How could you take Stanford's search engine as anything but contemporary? I'd said, "try Rosenthal's anthology. It's called "Classical American Pragmatism" and consists of contemporary commentators". How is it possible to mistake that for anything other than contemporary? We're supposed to be doing philosophy here. Instead, there is a constant battle against this kind of dumb, dumb, dumb stuff.
Most of the time I just ignore the worst of it, but you had addressed me directly and were dropping names like you know something about it, so I couldn't resist. This place is full of conspiracy theories, hateful right-wing politics, crypto-theological bullshit and just plain drivel. It's hard to watch. It's sad. And you're certainly not helping, Dave.
