The scalpel can cut any number of ways.  I see it as there are six 
senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste and mind.  Perceptual 
awareness may be of a mental pattern.

And if you just diddle about with a scalpel you end up cutting yourself.
Sensation and perception are well studied and well thought out. Confusing
the distinctions between them, failing to understand and use terminology
correctly and relying on the outmoded speculations of "enlightened mystics"
may preserve your warm fuzzy feeling but so does pissing yourself while
wearing a dark suit.
