> I WANDERED LONELY AS A CLOUD
>      by William Wordsworth
>       recited by Bullwinkle

> For oft, when on my couch I lie
> In vacant or in pensive mood,
> They flash upon that inward eye
> Which is the bliss of solitude;
> And then my heart with pleasure fills,
> And dances with the daffodils.

It is the evolution of the "inward eye" from miniscule prehension to cosmic
awareness that needs explanation. A lucky buildup of nerve tissue into a
3lb bulb of electric meat just doesn't hack it. Pirsig's explanation -- a
natural thrust to be better off -- fits the empirical evidence.
