Hi All,
I have started this new thread because I am intrigued by it. To what extent
can the MoQ be said to be a 'universal' metaphysics?
Firstly, I really dislike to use the word 'universal' but it seems to be
used commonsensically as relating to, and denoting 'everything'....
We may assume that Pirsig, after having read Northrop (the Meeting of East
and West),devoted to him as a student and still to be heavily influenced by
him, may have attempted such a venture through the MoQ. Which reduces it
to relating to us, earth bound, stardust inspired, humans.
Can the MoQ be said to be therefore a-cultural and timeless? or does it make
no such claim. ( I realise that Pirsig himself has placed the MoQ within
the American, pragmatist tradition and stresses that it is a continuation
thereof).
Ron, I gather you have some definite things to say about this.
Interested.
Andre
