You can't make a distinction between the govt. and the capitalist system
when the govt is wholly owned and operated by the capitalist system.

Furthermore, the banks didn't loan all that money at the behest of any
socialist plan, they financed mortgages by the millions for the very reason
they exist - profit.  All this happened as the result of the very laissez
faire forces you and Ayn love so much.  Each little mortgage maker getting
his piece of the pie, finance, re-finance and sell off the rest of the pie
on the derivatives markets to suckers who can read a short-sighted balance
sheet but can't  see the writing on the wall.
