Even if it is true that religion was important for evolution in the
past, why carry the boat on your shoulders when it has already taken
you across the river?

MP: I agree. I just don't believe we have crossed the river; some
people are out of the boat, others still in it. IMO we still need the
boat. Get rid of the boat, you lose a lot of people in the river and
when those that don't drown get on shore, they'll be pretty pissed at
those that tossed the boat with them  in it. ;-)


Steve:
It looks like we have come full circle. We are back to "what is
religion for?"

It is useful and in some sense true, if it has a use, but what is it
useful for? What is the river that it helps you or others cross and
how does it help you cross it?
