I never did understand that notion the American religious right had about 
"abandoning Christian values".  That Christian values is the thing that the 
US is based on?  Revolutionary USA, with oh so French  revolutionary ideas 
at it's base.  And the slogan: "écrasez l'infâme" rings out through the 
ages.

To me it seems representative that the "under god" part in the (oh so 
utterly horrifying) pledge of allegiance wasn't added until the 1950's. Go 
figure. Probably needed to ward of the godless commie scum. You know, 
monopolising the Big Guy isn't a bad thing.
