I think we should confine the term ‘socialism’ to the economic realm. Your
example, is one of ‘social engineering’.

OK, fair enough. So you'd say that laws attempting to define marriage as
between "a man and a woman" are an example of "social engineering"?
[Craig]
If marriage laws were just starting, I think gender should be irrelevent.
However, I'm leary of applying thousands of case law to gay marriage.

We overcame a lot when we allowed marriage between a black and a white. Seemed
to not cause any problems for me.
But this is an argument I just don't get. You seem to be saying that even
though something is immoral, we shouldn't rock the boat if it means extra work
for the legal system.

I think we should experiment with different forms of partnership: marriage,
civil union, usw.

Personally I think the state should only concern itself with "civil unions",
let "marriage" become just a "church" term.
