Because it is the MOQ way of stating the same thing.  Intellectual 
patterns do not have any independent existence.   Oh, you mean "Kill 
all intellectual patterns."   (Poop!!!  Booby traps every time I open 
my mouth!!! )  I believe this was an analogy for 'don't give those 
intellectual patterns any mind'.
