[Ron]
Art, begins, I believe, with love. The highest form being the love of
wisdom. Crafting this value allows one to build it into their lives.
It is a discipline to be sure
[Arlo]
Maybe this is a semantic thing, but I don't see it as a "discipline"
at all. "Art" applies to all forms of human activity, indeed, I'd
argue that "art" could be understood as "Quality" revealed in "activity".
[Ron]
Art does pertain to a certain human activity, that of love.
[Arlo]
Well, this is again worded odd for me. "Love" is not a certain human
activity, it is how we are involved. If you mean that Art/Love are
terms pointing at the same thing, that "Art" is the physical
manifestation of "love", then I'd say sure, I agree. But again "love"
is not something bounded to a certain form of human activity, it
ranges from playing baseball to building rotisseries to painting to hiking.
[Ron]
... simply because all human activity has the potential to be artful
doesn't necessarily mean that all human activity is artful.
[Arlo]
No, of course not, and I thought I said as much.
