...It is his misogynist point-of-view that is unforgivable. ...Campbell also, imo, takes a living breathing Mythos and objectifies it.  Each statement is presented as true fact without a shred of humility or respect for the relativity of the subject.  Joe is cute, though, and I wanted to slap him silly only in a playful kind of way.

In fact, by the time the epic of Gilgamesh was put into writing (the oldest myth we have on record) the rule of women was already over. It's a rip-off of the myth of Innana. Also, there are no "true facts" in myth. They're not factual at all and Joe would be the first to point that out. In fact, the hero's journey is all about realizing the limits of the differentiations of consciousness.
