Pure intellect does not involve empirical observation.  Does the biologist verify his research data on the basis of intellect or biological evidence?

Ron:
If they are a biologist and not a science fiction writer, yes. What else could
verify the data? I mean really?

see this is the whole problem, this statement:
"Pure intellect does not involve empirical observation."

Anyone who makes this claim see's no distinction between fact
and fiction or is saying that fiction takes precendence over fact.
