Right you are, and dogmatic evolutionists like Dawkins and his ilk 
cannot answer Pirsig's question, "Why do the fittest survive?" This 
yawning gap in Darwinian theory parallels the gaps in the fossil evidence 
as well as the inexplicable explosion of new species during certain 
periods, sometimes described as "punctuated equilibrium," a purported 
explanation that explains nothing, on a par with science's favorite 
evasion, "emergence."
